Back with more challenges



ASPIRING basketball players are in for a treat as the AND1 3-on-3 Streetball Challenge is back at Penang Times Square in George Town on Oct 4, from 9am until evening.

In its 11th year, the event organised by W.O.S. World of Sports (M) Sdn Bhd is open to Malaysians and non-Malaysians and divided into four categories – Boys Under-13, Boys Under-15, Boys Under-18 and Men Under-21.

World of Sports executive director Saw Swee Leong said other event highlights included the Search of Streetballer competition, Best Shooter competition, Slam Dunk competition as well as the lucky draw with AND1 limited edition products.

Registration is still open and is limited to 200 teams only.

“The champion team of Boys Under-18 will compete in the grand finals at Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur, on Nov 23,” he said.

Saw also said that current national and ex-national junior basketball players were not allowed to participate.

Besides Penang, the challenge was also held in Klang on May 25, Johor on June 28 and Malacca on Sept 7.

A total cash prize of RM1,800 for the top three team finishers are up for grabs apart from an array of health products and sports merchandise.

The competition is sanctioned by the Malaysia Basketball Association (MABA). Registrations close on Sept 29.
