KUANTAN: The SM Sains Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (Semsas) basketball team had a ball of a time learning new tricks during a special coaching clinic held in conjunction with the upcoming AND1 3x3 Streetball Challenge.
“For those 17-years-old and below, skills and fundamentals are very important. I worked them through their movements and adjust if they are not smooth so they can perform better,” he said.
The clinic had the boys and girls excited to join the streetball tournament to be held at East Coast Mall here on Sept 29.
The Semsas basketball team are no strangers to the game as the girls had recently emerged champion at the Fully Residential Schools Excellence Day tournament.
Team captain Loqman Ab Latif, 16, said he was eager to try out the new techniques he picked up from Chiang.
“I learnt how to do a fast crossover dribble and the proper way to shoot hoops. I am very excited and will continue practicing these skills until the tournament day,” he said.
Those who wish to participate must send in their entry form by Sept 22.
Entries will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and limited to 200 teams only.
Participants must deliver the form with an entry fee of RM90 per team and attached with a copy of each player’s MyKad or passport for non-Malaysians.
