THE AND1 Streetball Challenge is back and is set to be more exciting and interesting.
Ossia World of Golf, the distributors of AND1 brand in Malaysia, have lined up four legs culminating with the grand finals in Berjaya Times Square on Aug 17.

The first leg will be at the USJ Summit on April 27. The challenge will then move to Penang at the Komtar on May 18.
The third leg is at Jusco in Klang on June 29 followed by the fourth leg in Danga Bay,Johor Baru on July 27.
Ossia World of Golf executive director Saw Swee Leong said they have been flooded with enquiries on the AND1 Streetball Challenge.
“Youngsters wanted to know the schedule so that they could plan their programmes while parents wanted their children to be involved in healthy activities.

Eye-catching moves: Fourteen-year-old Derick Liew showing off his skills at the In Search of Freestylist Competition last year.

“Last year, a total of 1,460 teams were involved in the challenge. The Streetball Challenge for 2008 will be launched soon,” said Saw.
Just like the previous years, the AND1 Streetball Challenge will cater for six age groups – Under-13, Under-15, Under-18 and Under-21 for boys and Under-15 and Under-18 for girls.
Besides the 3-on-3 action, participants will have the chance to be involved in other activities including freestyle competition, emcee, beatbox, breakdance competitions, creative innovation drawing and graffiti competition and slam dunk demonstration and competition.
Hip Hop recording artist Dareyno will put up a show while there will also be interactive games. Attractive products from AND1 will be offered as lucky draw prizes.
Each participant will receive an AND1 jersey and each team will get an AND1 basketball. The top eight teams in each category will get prizes from AND1.
Milo sports marketing manager Ng Ping Loong said they have been associated with the AND1 Streetball Challenge for the past three years.
“The event is moving in the right direction. From a simple streetball event it has progressed to the event that all basketball enthusiasts look forward to each year. The growth has been gradual and consistent. From a Chinese-dominated game, we now see more non-Chinese playing it.
“The involvement of foreign students from private colleges has also added excitement to the event as these students are highly skilful.
“We look forward to the new season. The event, we hope, will complement the activities by the Malaysian Basketball Association in promoting the sports,’’ added Ng.
